FMA EXTENDED TO BSNL/MTNL PENSIONERS
In a significant breakthrough, Fixed Medical Allowance, hitherto available only to the Central Government pensioners, has been extended to BSNL/ MTNL pensioners following our letter to Hon. MOH& FW Mansukh Mandavia ji.
Applications are invited by Jt Controller Communications Accounts ( pension) from IDA Pensioners residing in areas not served by CGHS for grant of fixed medical allowance. This issue was taken up by this Association with Minister of Health and Family welfare, Respected Mankush Mandavia, Secy/ MOH & FW and DG/ CGHS.
Another important breakthrough for BSNL/ MTNL Pensioners. This Association was striving quite hard to extend this facility to IDA Pensioners. Only BSNL / MTNL are Pensioners under CCS 1972 CCS Pension Rules eligible for CGHS facility amongst all CPSUs..
Let us try to understand the huge significance of this order for which we have had been struggling for quite some time. More than 70 % of IDA Pensioners of BSNL are living in area not catered to by CGHS presently. Being in IDA scales, they were not eligible for FMA since CGHS pays FMA only to CDA Pensioners. Thus BSNL Pensioners were deprived of this facility living in non CGHS areas. Incidentally, this FMA is recently recommended to be enhanced from Rs 1000/- pm to Rs 3000 pm. By virtue of this order, now BSNL Pensioners residing in non CGHS areas will be eligible for this FMA. This Association conveys its deepest sense of gratitude to Honble Minster of Health and Family affairs, Secy/ MOH& FW and DG/ CGHS for considering our repeated requests to extend FMA facility to BSNL Pensioners. Incidentally, BSNL Pensioners will only be benefitted by this order since MTNL Pensioners are living in CGHS serviced areas. Huge relief to our Comrades living in non CGHS areas.
